Collaboration with controversial Korean-born religious figure Sun Myung Moon has been a topic of concern within religious circles, but for the most part mainstream religionists regard Moon's Unification Church as a suspect organization. At times Moon has declared himself to be the Messiah. But the speakers' list for a recent Moon-sponsored conference in Washington is evidence that, despite his theology and controversial past, the self-ordained evangelist is not off-limits to the conservative wing in the family values debate.
