Ostensibly the Baby Taylor ($398 with gig bag) is a beautifully built travel guitar. Weighing a mere two pounds, this 3/4-size dreadnought certainly is portable, yet it's much more than a camping ax. As we'll discover, the Baby's soprano tuning and tinkly voice make it a potent recording and writing tool.
But first the specs: The Baby has a solid sitka spruce top, mahogany veneer back and sides, mahogany neck with a 19-fret ebony fretboard, an ebony pin-style bridge, phenolic nut and saddle, enclosed die-cast chrome tuners, and a laser-etched soundhole rosette.
