Father Flanagan's Boys' Home (Boys Town) and the American Institute for Philanthropy (ALP) have reached a settlement in the Home's defamation lawsuit against AIP and its president, Daniel Borochoff. Boys Town filed suit against AIP and Borochoff in January 1994 after AIP's Charity Rating Guide gave Boys Town an "F" grade because the charity's asset reserve was in excess of five years' annual budget.
Settlement came on May 29 - a little more than a week after the case was due to go to trial in a Brooklyn, New York. District Judge Jack B. Weinstein had warned Boys Town earlier this year that it was a trial the charity might not win. He said, "it was foolish to bring ...
