MURRAY HILL, N.J., Sept. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Lucent Technologies (NYSE: LU) said that today AT&T will complete the spin-off of the new company and begin distributing nearly 525 million shares of Lucent stock to more than 3 million shareowners in what investment community experts are calling the largest U.S. stock distribution ever.
Lucent also said that the red-and-white stock certificates being mailed this week feature something old and something new -- sketches from an 1880 patent application for an invention by Alexander Graham Bell and the company's recently-created corporate symbol.
