HOLDEN - When Prohibition ended in 1933, The Blue Plate Lunch and Lounge opened at 661 Main St. as a place to get a good, cheap lunch known as a Blue Plate Special.

This weekend The Blue Plate Lounge will celebrate its 75th anniversary with a musical lineup reminiscent of its 1970s heyday.

Many local bands drew audiences of 200 fans to the honky-tonk, and Arlo Guthrie served as bartender for a shift or two.
