The US presidential race has been notable for a significant shift in the politics of America's 're-born' New Left. The earlier part of this year's campaign witnessed a new and refreshing willingness on the part of Democratic candidates to engage pro-actively with faith issues. However, the Sarah Palin 'pick' has changed all that and seen a swift return to the squalid rhetoric that demands--against the teachings of Christ and the historic church--that Christian faith remain a private and not a public matter.
True, many of us who came to the Christian faith travelled a long, sometimes arduous, often private, soul-searching path. But ...
