WASHINGTON, Oct. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Richard Branson, founder and Chairman of Virgin Atlantic Airways, said today that the proposed merger of American Airlines and British Airways (NYSE: BAB) would spell the end of airline competition on routes between the U.S. and London. "If this alliance were allowed to go ahead," said Branson, "it would be like the merger of Coke and Pepsi, of Nike and Reebok, of General Motors and Ford." Branson's remarks were delivered today at a luncheon speech to the International Aviation Club of Washington.
