Superior set plays are sending the Coon Rapids boys' soccer team to state.
The Cardinals' 5-1 victory over defending state champion Anoka in Tuesday's Class 2A, Section 7 game featured a goal off a throw-in and two goals off corner kicks.
"Balls were played to the right spot and guys got to where they were supposed to be," coach Jason Jacob said.
The Cardinals are making their fifth trip to the state tournament, first since 1995. They struck fast as senior Adam Pappas used his head to redirect a throw-in by Jimmy Kruchten for a goal less than five minutes into the game.
