Soprano Jamie-Rose Guarrine and baritone Stephen Hartley are young, confident, energetic, and ready to work as hard as stevedores. Those are just the traits needed if they -- and their compatriots in the Santa Fe Opera's 2008 apprentice programs -- want to succeed in the delightful but demanding world of opera.
Of course, just by winning one of SFO's coveted apprentice slots, this season's participants have already shown that they can deliver the goods on a certain level.
