BERLIN, N.J.--Oct. 13--The South Jersey town that was once known as Long-A-Coming is coming along quite nicely, thank you.
Today, its name is Berlin, and the Camden County borough, at the intersections of Routes 73 and 30 and County Route 561, thrives with new home development, downtown renovation and civic pride.
"There's a strong sense of belonging. People take an interest and a pride in living here," Berlin Mayor Millard Wilkinson Jr. said.
Wilkinson, 61, is an example of that community connection. He has lived in Berlin since 1954 and has been its Republican mayor for 17 years, longer than any other Berlin mayor.
