ORLANDO, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 14, 1996--Philips Car Systems, a subsidiary of Philips Electronics, enters the U.S. market for vehicle navigation this week with the shipment by BMW of North America of 5 and 7 Series vehicles for 1997 that are equipped with a fully-integrated, factory-installed communications package incorporating Philips' acclaimed CARiN technology.
The new BMW On-Board Navigation System is on display in the BMW exhibit at the third annual World Congress of the Intelligent Transportation Society, opening here today. Philips' CARiN technology can be also viewed at the exhibit of navigation database provider Navigation Technologies.
