Tony Gwynn provided the heroics in the bottom of the ninth inning Wednesday at Greer Stadium.
No, not that Tony Gwynn. It wasn't the Hall-of-Fame hitter that led Nashville to a 5-4 walk-off win over Albuquerque in Pacific Coast League baseball. It was his 25-year-old son that spanked a 2-2 pitch over the wall in center field in the first at-bat of the inning.
Gwynn Jr., an outfielder and a top prospect in the Milwaukee Brewers' organization, was 2-for-5 with a run scored.
The Isotopes, who squandered a 4-1 lead, were led by Michael Ryan, who was 2-for-3 with a solo homer.
