Moneta Sleet Jr., one of America's greatest photographers, died in New York's Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. The first Black male and the first Black photographer to receive a Pulitzer Prize, the Ebony and Jet photojournalist covered the Freedom Movement in Africa and America and photographed the major leaders and followers of the last 40 years. John H. Johnson, chairman and publisher of Johnson Publishing Company, said: "Sleet was one of the unsung giants of our profession.
