ST. PETERS, Mo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 17, 1996--MEMC Electronic Materials, Inc. announced today that it will begin construction of a 200 millimeter silicon wafer manufacturing plant at its joint venture site in the newly opened Kulim High Tech Park in Kedah state in Malaysia. The Company previously announced the intent to form the 75% owned joint venture, to be named MEMC KULIM Electronic Materials, Sdn. Bhd., with its partner Khazanah Nasional Berhad - the investment arm of the Ministry of Finance of the Malaysian Government.
