Genentech's Avastin, Herceptin Tested in Cancer Combinations. Genentech Inc. (S. San Francisco CA), the top maker of cancer therapies, said tests of its drugs Avastin and Herceptin in combination with other medicines showed promise in human trials. Avastin, used for breast, colon and lung tumors, and Herceptin, a breast cancer treatment, are being tested with drugs being developed by Genentech for more tumor types and earlier intervention. A trial showing that adding partner Immunogen Inc.'s (Cambridge MA) drug to Herceptin extended the use of Genentech's product.
