Article: AMD Breaks Ground for Dresden Manufacturing Facility.

DRESDEN, Germany--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 24, 1996--AMD today broke ground for a $1.8 billion (DM2.9 billion) semiconductor manufacturing facility and design center in Dresden, Germany.

The groundbreaking ceremonies in the community of Wilschdorf marked the beginning of site preparation during which nearly 500,000 cubic meters of soil will be moved prior to the start of construction in April 1997. The facility is scheduled to be operational in late 1998.
