Just how important is Saratoga County to Advanced Micro Devices Inc.?
Well, as part of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi's $7.2 billion investment in AMD and its plan to spin off manufacturing, there is a tiny clause that ensures that AMD's $4.6 billion computer chip factory at the Luther Forest Technology Campus gets built.
One of the Abu Dhabi investment funds involved in the deal, Mubadala Development Co., is investing $314 million in AMD in exchange for 65 million shares of AMD stock and 30 million warrants.
