Bonnie Cashin (1907 to 2000) was one of the most influential American fashion designers of the 20th century. Although she was relatively unknown by the public, Cashin was respected by the fashion world for her original approach to casual ready-to-wear. Before she established Bonnie Cashin Designs in 1951, she designed women's civilian defense uniforms during World War II. She was also a costumemaker in the 1940s for 60 Hollywood films, including Laura and Anna and the King of Siam. In 1962, Cashin launched Coach's women's division as its exclusive handbag designer. Macy's, Bergdorf Goodman, Lord & Taylor, and Neiman Marcus featured her designs. This ...
