ROLAND FOUNDER IKUTARO Kakehashi has rightfully been called the "godfather" of MIDI. The initial concept of a universal standard for electronic music devices had first been floated by Dave Smith, founder of Sequential Circuits, at an Audio Engineering Society conference.
