Background
The Joint Task Force on Practice Parameters, representing the major American allergy-immunology professional societies, has issued revised guidelines on the diagnosis and management of rhinitis. The goal of these guidelines is to improve the care of the 30-60 million U.S. patients annually who suffer from rhinitis.
Conclusions
Rhinitis is characterized by the presence of at least one of the following symptoms: nasal congestion, sneezing, itching, and anterior and/or posterior rhinorrhea.
