The summer that Doug Novotny turned 5, his aunt tried to keep him out of trouble by taking him bowling at every opportunity. Little did the native of Lindenhurst, L.I., know that he was gaining important career training.
Fast-forward three decades, and Mr. Novotny is one of the city's top bowling-industry executives. He was recently hired as general manager of Lucky Strike Lanes--Lucky Strike Entertainment's first venue in the city.
"In bowling, people can interact with each other,'' Mr. Novotny says of his love for the game. "There's so much camaraderie.''
