FROM today hospitals in Wales must ensure their vending machines contain no crisps, sweets and fizzy drinks.
Junk food is being banned from snack dispensers and must be replaced with healthy alternatives such as fruit and sugar-free drinks.
Machines will have to contain food that is healthy, kind to teeth and safe to eat under orders from the Welsh Assembly Government.
It has issued hospital managers with guidelines on what to offer patients and visitors.
