Nov. 1--An Illinois bank's second foray into Wisconsin in a month may give Belleville residents one less bank to choose from if both deals are consummated.
Amcore Financial, of Rockford, Ill. announced Wednesday that it plans to buy First National Bancorp of Monroe. First National is the parent company of First National Bank and Trust, which has offices in Belleville, Madison, Monroe and New Glarus.
Amcore Financial's definitive agreement to buy the Monroe bank follows its announcement in early October that it had signed a letter of intent to buy Country Bank Shares of Mount Horeb, which owns four banks in Wisconsin and is seeking to buy another ...
