Turkey's new Islamist Prime Minister, Necmettin Erbakan, is attempting to do the impossible - to turn Turkey towards the east after over 70 years of western secularism.
Analysts appear to have been overzealous in their dismissal of Prime Minister Erbakan's ability to lead an independent foreign policy from the West. The question is not "Can Erbakan take Turkey's military and secular politicians along with him?" but "How far?".
