A MINISTER has been accused of 'insulting the memory' of fallen British soldiers by the father of the first woman killed in action in Afghanistan.

Quentin Davies, the defence equipment minister, caused outrage by blaming the deaths of soldiers in flimsy Snatch Land Rovers on Army commanders.

Mr Davies said it was a 'travesty' to claim troops died in Afghanistan and Iraq because they were not given proper equipment.

Last week, SAS commander Major Sebastian Morley quit in disgust after four of his soldiers died when their lightly-armoured vehicle struck a landmine.
