TAIPEI, Nov. 6 Asia Pulse - A visiting Chinese liaison officer toured the Hsinchu Science-based Industrial Park in the northern city of Hsinchu Wednesday, marking the first time that he was traveling outside Taipei City, Taiwan's capital, since his arrival Monday on a historic visit.
Chen Yunlin, president of the Beijing-based Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS), visited the industrial park - Taiwan's high-tech stronghold that is patterned after the United States' Silicon Valley - amid heavy security.
Pro-independence activists vowed to stage protests at the venue to voice their opposition to his visit to Taiwan.
