EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
THE 100 largest private companies headquartered in Los Angeles County repotted combined revenue of $85 billion in 2007, up $5.2 billion from a year ago.
Platinum Equity held the top spot, followed closely by David Murdock's holding company for Dole Food Co. and Castle & Cooke Inc. Specialty food and beverage retailer Trader Joe's Co. Inc., investment manager Capital Group Cos. and electrical products distributor Consolidated Electrical Distributors Inc. round out the top five.
