Potholes and puddles slammed by football committee man

AN ANGRY football committee member has slammed the potholed and puddled state of the approach road into the new [pounds sterling]825,000 synthetic sports pitches at Lanark Racecourse.

Alan Mitchell of Kirkfield United Boys Club said the crater-covered road made Lanark ''a laughing stock'' and urged land managers South Lanarkshire Council to re-surface instead of simply filling holes in with ''grush''.

The Gazette visited the site on Wednesday to find a barren surface full of puddles, with a pile of manure stored at the roadside beyond a fence for good measure.
