Lanark traders and business people in state of near-revolt
TRADERS and business people in Lanark were in a state of near-revolt this week, angrily claiming that multiple road closures were ''strangling'' the town and their livelihoods.
It has led for calls for a ``proper'' Lanark Merchants Association to be reformed to ensure the town is never again, as one furious trader put it on Monday, ``practically cut off from the rest of Scotland.''
As reported in last week's Gazette, the main Carluke to Lanark road, the A73, is closed for most of this week as a short stretch of the highway at Braidwood is repaired.
