YOUNG members of Bann Rowing Club are being praised after their quick thinking saved a man's life last Monday.
It was about 9.00pm in the evening when a group of young rowers arrived in the area of the Mountsandel Jetty on the River Bann, just above the Sandelford Bridge. They found a 40-year-old man in difficulties, drifting in the river, and immediately went into action to save his life.
In what was initially planned to be just another training evening, a Junior 15 men's quad was on the river accompanied by Peter Chambers, who was coaching from one of the club's powered launches. Veteran club member, Rev Peter Fleming, was also out sculling on the ...
