LOCAL people have been astounded at the state of a picnic area on the famous Causeway Coastal Route.
The Quilly Picnic Area is on the Quilly Road between Coleraine and Castlerock and lies on the route highlighted for tourists visiting the coastal area. When the Times visited it on Wednesday they found a massive pool of stagnant water and a picnic area overgrown with weeds and grass.
A local woman who walks her dog in the area reported the problems to the Times. She said that the area had been flooded earlier in the year and the Roads Service had cleared the drain, solving the problem on a temporary basis.
