IT WILL be a bleak Christmas for the 138 workers who lost their jobs at a Co. Galway engineering firm yesterday.
The company, APW Galway Ltd at the Deerpark Industrial Estate in Oranmore, has gone into receivership.
Employees were aware that business had slowed down, but the suddenness of the news left them shocked and upset.
The company, which made metal fabrication products for the tele-com, computing and electronics industries, blamed challenging market conditions for the move.
