Article: Janet leads way at Pen y Ghent.

Chorley Harriers have mainly been in action on the fells of late with four ladies tackling the Pen y Ghent race from Horton, in Ribblesdale, last Saturday.

Over the tough 5.5 mile course, with 1,650 feet of climbing, Janet Chaplin led the way for Chorley in a time of 74.56 for 121st overall.

Jan Atkins followed just under a minute later in 75.46 with Marie Dewhurst clocking 81.48 and Libby Daultrey 84.14.

A week earlier, the seven-mile Hutton Roof Crags race set off from Kirkby Lonsdale with 1,300 feet of ascent to cover.

The race attracted seven Harriers with sole male representative Paul Jackson home in 86th place in 64.44.
