Leo Tolstoy famously observed: "Happy families are all alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way." He was starting his novel "Anna Karenina," but it could just as easily applied to that most annoying of film genres, the "dysfunctional family" movie. Whether comedy or drama, there are far more misses than hits when it comes to watching family members whine at each other for two hours.
