A NEW voluntary group has been formed to help manage North Uist and Berneray's coastline.
To be known as Coastal Care, the 12-strong group is made up mainly of members from the various areas of the two islands with soft coastline affected by erosion.
It will work with Coast Hebrides (the renamed Outer Hebrides Coastal Marine Partnership) on projects such as protecting the coast, stabilising the dunes, building tracks, car parks and picnic areas, beach litter collection, monitoring changes on the beach and encouraging learning and research. The group will have access to the advice and expertise of Coast Hebrides members such as SEPA, SEERAD, CnES, ...
