FERRY fares are a 'penalty' against Islanders, stated Donald John MacSween, Vice-Chair of Transportation for Comhairle Nan Eilean Siar, this week.
Cllr MacSween called for the SNP to remove ferry fares from vital routes as a follow on to their policy to scrap tolls on the Forth and Tay Road Bridges.
"Ferry fares penalise those who live in Island communities," said Mr MacSween. "The First Minister is to be commended for announcing the removal of charges on those who use the Tay and Forth bridges and it makes sense to extend that wisdom to the removal of ferry fares.
