A WOMAN died in a house fire in Lewis at the weekend.

Police were alerted to a house fire at 1/19 Callanish at around 4.30pm on Saturday.

Units from the Highlands and Islands Fire and Rescue Service, Scottish Ambulance Service and Northern Constabulary all attended at the scene.

The fire was located in a first floor bedroom and was brought under control.
