Nov. 21--A $65.8 million expansion at Protein Technologies International Inc. will create 52 new full-time-equivalent jobs with a median annual wage of $29,500 when its fully operational in August 1998.
The expansion will cover about 80,000 square feet, plant manager Ralph Tognetti said. It earned the St. Louis-based company a 10-year tax freeze Wednesday from the Memphis and Shelby County Industrial Development Board.
The jobs will be entry level positions, as well as mechanic and administrative, Tognetti said. The plant at 4272 S. Mendenhall Road now has about 250 full-time equivalent employees.
