Before the Internet, the publishing industry had a quiet dignity about it. Now, after the wildfire success of blogs - I Can Has Cheezburger? and Stuff White People Like, to name two - publishers are chasing all manner of odd and hilarious Web sites looking to turn blogs into books.
Most point to PostSecret's 2005 launch as the trend's begining. PostSecret, a site devoted to secrets scrawled on postcards, has spawned four books so far. But this fall the blog-to-book phenomenon has exploded, as bloggers increasingly turn to old media to make a buck after becoming new-media sensations. ...
