Gertrude Hadley Jeannette, the founder of the H.A.D.L.E.Y. Players (Harlem Artists Development League Especially for You), celebrated her 93rd birthday last November with friends and admirers at Harlem's Alhambra Ballroom. Still erect of stature and dignified, dressed in a tan dress with sequined sleeves, Jeannette was ushered into the room by the Harlem Youth Marine Color Guard. Tributes poured forth from artists and local celebrities who have been touched by Jeannette over the years, including producer Philip Rose, Rev.
