KAREN Matthews duped her nine-year-old daughter into a 24-day kidnap ordeal by saying she was going for a trip to the fair, a jury was told yesterday.
The little girl eagerly jumped into step-uncle Michael Donovan's car only to end up drugged and tethered with a noose at his dingy flat.
Her mum hatched the plot with Donovan, 40, to kidnap the nine-year-old girl and only release her once a reward offered by a newspaper reached pounds 50,000, Leeds crown court heard.
