WE NEED nothing more urgently than people engaged in transformative protest and action from a heart transformed by contemplation.
This sounds exalted, beyond the reach of the ordinary person, but it becomes less so if we understand the process that gets us there.
Most of us begin the Christian life and life itself from an active standpoint: we want to do or think or experience things that somehow make a difference in ourselves, in others or in the world. We find ourselves called into a plethora of ministries, committees and action groups.
