GOVERNMENT sources were furious after broadcaster Pat Kenny suggested on air that the Taoiseach had ducked out of a TV grilling on 'Prime Time'.
Mr Kenny queried on his morning radio show yesterday why Mr Cowen had not turned up, saying it was his understanding from colleagues the Taoiseach had been due in studio on Thursday night.
But Government insiders were furious at the claim and Mr Cowen's aides fired off an immediate correction to the programme 'Today with Pat Kenny".
But it was claimed that some comments by Mr Kenny as he read out the Government denial had served to further confuse the situation.
