Nov. 15--HAMBURG -- Students learned how to raise dough the old-fashioned way Friday during a program at Hamburg Middle School. Paula Gray, chief instructor of the Life Skills Bread Baking Program from the Norwich, Vt.-based King Arthur Flour Co., visited the school Friday morning to teach more than 400 students a simple but dying art -- how to make homemade bread from scratch. Gray said the program's goal is to encourage students to use their newfound skill to bake their own loaves at home, share them with their families, and donate a loaf to a local food pantry or homeless shelter.
