WORCESTER - More office space in downtown Worcester is filled, but the city is still yet to fully harness its retail potential.
A Worcester Research Bureau report shows the downtown office occupancy rate climbing 0.9 percent to 88.4 percent this year compared with 2007. However, more than 550,000 square feet of space - equivalent to 10 football fields - is still vacant.
As many as 2,800 jobs could be created were the space to be filled, the report said.
