NEXT weekend there are plans to light a string of beacons along the Northumberland coast. Spittal chimney near Berwick will also be illuminated as part of the 50th birthday celebrations of the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
The AONB runs for 39 miles from Amble to Berwick and covers 135km of some of the most dramatic and varied coastal scenery in the countr y.
