Total assets of cooperatives in the U.S. total more than $1 trillion, according to the NATIONAL COOPERATIVE BANK. Cooperatives in the U.S. generate nearly $250 billion in annual revenue. Upon inclusion of indirect and induced effects, these co-ops support the generation of over $500 billion in annual revenue.
Cooperatives also directly employ nearly 500,000 people in the U.S. and support more than 1.2 million jobs. Currently there are more than 30,000 cooperatives in the U.S. that account for more than 45,000 places of business.
