When Air Force personnel think of hazardous wildlife, most automatically think of Bird/wildlife Aircraft Strike Hazard and the effects it has on flight operations. However, zoonoses (infectious diseases transmittable between animals and humans) with a wildlife reservoir are a threat to human health throughout the world. Due to the attractiveness of many airfields to wildlife, increased exposure to dangerous pathogens may occur during implementation of BASH procedures.
