THREE of Canada's largest cheesemakers asked the Federal Court in Ottawa, Ont., Oct. 20 to block rule changes due to come into effect in December that set the minimum level of milk required in cheese and establish a new import licensing system.
It is unclear how the government will react or whether the action will attract other intevenors.
Milk producers and their organizations have long supported the new rules for how the Food & Drugs Act and the Canadian Agricultural Products Act operate.
