Today the Detroit Free Press and The Detroit News report historic sales at local retail outlets. Anticipating large interest in the announcement of a new president, both newspapers increased the number of copies printed by more than 40%, but that wasn't enough to meet consumer demand. "Area retailers reported customers purchasing multiple copies of each newspaper and most sold out by noon," said Janet Hasson, Senior Vice President of Audience Development at the Detroit Media Partnership.
